FAQs
What is Stirbar Lab?
Stirbar Lab is a hands-on cosmetic formulation lab where you can create personalized skincare, haircare, and color cosmetics from extracted, natural organic ingredients.
How does the hands-on experience work?
You’ll enter our lab, select your raw ingredients such as nuts, plants, beans, and more. Then, you’ll extract oils, scents, and waxes from these ingredients and combine them to create your custom product, all with expert guidance from our chemists.
What ingredients do you use?
We use organic grown, locally sourced raw ingredients. Our formulations are free from solvents, phthalates, sulfates, petroleum, PEG, silicones, EDTA, and BPA.
Do you extract all ingredients from scratch, or are some store-bought?
We extract 90% of ingredients from raw botanicals in-house. However, for certain specialized ingredients that require advanced processing, we source high-quality, ethically produced components to ensure safety and consistency.
Can I take my custom-made product home?
Absolutely! Your personalized product is packaged onsite with a customized label featuring your name.
Do I need a science background to participate?
Not at all! Our sessions are designed for everyone—whether you’re a beauty enthusiast, DIY lover, or just curious about cosmetic science.
How long does a session last?
Sessions typically last 1 to 2 hours, depending on the complexity of your formulation.

Preparation & Safety
What if I have allergies or sensitive skin?
If you have known allergies or sensitivities, please inform us before your session. While we use natural, high-quality ingredients, some botanical extracts and oils may still cause reactions in sensitive individuals.

What should I wear to the lab?
Since you’ll be working hands-on with cosmetic ingredients, we recommend wearing comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes for safety.
We’ll provide lab coats, gloves, and safety goggles as needed.
Is there a liability form to sign before my session?
Yes, all participants must sign a liability form before their session. The form outlines potential risks and safety guidelines. By signing, you acknowledge the risks of working with natural ingredients and agree to follow all safety instructions. If you have any concerns, please contact us beforehand.
